Computational Epidemiology & Aerobiology Laboratory

The purpose of this web site is to provide a weather-based assessment of the soybean rust threat North American soybean production areas. Components of this analysis include:

- Demarcation of soybean rust source areas in North America, South America and Africa.

- Historical analysis of the aerial movement of soybean rust from Africa to South America.

- Weather-based assessment of likely atmospheric pathways, regions of deposition, and the timing of aerial transport of soybean rust from current source regions in South America and Africa to North America.

The web site also provides information on soybean rust epidemiology, assumptions and parameters used in the aerobiology transport model and links to a variety of other web sites with information on soybean rust.

North American Plant Disease Forecasting Center

This website produces forecasts based on airborne transport of spores and the potential for disease development. Forecasts are generated on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week from March to October.

The forecasting service is provided by the North Carolina State University departments of Plant Pathology and Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences.

USDA Public Soybean Rust Website

This website shows USDA sentinel plot data for soybean rust observations on soybean and other hosts. The forecasting feature uses weather and other information to predict occurrences of soybean rust in the United States. Map commentary for each state is provided by individual state specialists and is updated several times a week.
